there are over 5000 varieties of grapes – but relax, we suggest getting to know 5 that you prefer and 5 that you don’t is a viable route! however most wines are actually a blend of grape tyes.
for example, cabernet sauvignon is often mixed with merlot - if the majority of the blend is cabernet sauvignon, then even though merlot is in the blend the bottle is likely to be labelled cabernet sauvignon. Some wines, like European table wines are not allowed to quote grape type ie “french dry white wine”.

we suggest taking a look first at the second page of this pdf. regarding grape variety, it suggests that the grape stated on the bottle should be at least 75% dominant in the wine blend. We have then referenced other useful pages of sites to help you discover your favourite types. ultimately you must however sample the blends to determine your true preferences!
